Choosing and building the right Stripe setup

Stripe offers several ways to take money, and picking the right one saves weeks. Payment Links need no code and suit a few fixed products. Stripe Checkout is a hosted payment page your site redirects to, with taxes, coupons and many payment methods built in. Elements embeds the payment form inside your own page for full design control, at the cost of more code. Most small businesses are well served by Checkout.

Whichever you choose, the part that makes a Stripe integration reliable is the webhook. Our agent builds an endpoint that verifies Stripe's signature, handles events like checkout.session.completed, invoice.paid and customer.subscription.deleted idempotently, and grants or removes access in your database based on those events rather than a redirect the customer might never reach. Subscriptions get the Customer Portal, so users can update cards, switch plans or cancel on their own.

All work happens in test mode with Stripe's test cards, including declines, 3D Secure challenges and failed renewals, before you switch to live keys yourself. The handover includes a go-live checklist covering the live webhook endpoint, live keys in your environment and tax settings. A GrahAI engineer reviews the payment and access logic, since that is where mistakes cost real money. The Stripe account and the code remain entirely yours.

What you receive

  • Stripe integration built and tested end to end in test mode
  • Signature-verified webhook handler with idempotent event processing
  • Access, order or credit updates in your database driven by webhook events
  • Go-live checklist covering live keys, endpoints and tax settings
  • Documented test-card scenarios, with two revision rounds included

When to hire a person instead

An agent is a poor fit for decisions about tax registration, high-risk business categories or disputes over a Stripe account review. Those need you, an accountant or Stripe's own support; we build the integration once your account is approved.

Hire a Stripe integration developer: common questions

How much does a Stripe integration cost?
Payment Links setup starts at $99 and webhook fixes are around $199. A one-time Checkout flow with fulfillment is about $299, subscriptions with trials and the Customer Portal usually run $599 to $699, and metered billing is around $999. Stripe Connect marketplaces are typically $2,499 to $3,499. Stripe's processing fees are separate and paid to Stripe.
Should I use Payment Links, Checkout or Elements?
Payment Links fit a small catalog with no developer time. Checkout fits most websites and apps: it's hosted by Stripe, handles wallets and local payment methods, and needs only a little backend code. Elements makes sense when the payment form must sit inside your own page design. The proposal recommends one and explains the trade-off.
Why do I need webhooks if the customer returns to my success page?
Because the redirect isn't reliable — customers close the tab, lose connection or pay with a method that confirms minutes later. Webhooks tell your server what actually happened. The agent grants access or fulfills orders only from verified webhook events, so paying customers always get what they bought and nobody gets it for free.
Will you have access to my Stripe account?
Only what's needed, and only after kickoff. Most builds use test-mode keys, which can't move real money. You can create a restricted key or add us as a team member with a developer role, then remove access after delivery. You switch to live keys yourself when you're ready.
How are failed subscription payments handled?
Stripe's Smart Retries and automatic emails recover many failed renewals, and the agent configures them for you. It also listens for invoice.payment_failed to show an in-app warning, and agrees with you how long a past-due customer keeps access before being downgraded. Those rules are written into the handover so your support team knows what users will see.
