Custom Discord bots built around your server

Public bots cover the basics, but communities eventually want something specific: roles granted after someone verifies a purchase, a support-ticket system that opens private threads, a leaderboard tied to a game's API, reminders for raids or study sessions, or moderation tuned to the server's own rules. That is when a custom bot makes sense, and most are small enough to scope precisely and quote at a fixed price.

Our agent builds with discord.js or discord.py, registers slash commands, buttons, select menus and modals, and requests only the gateway intents the bot actually needs. Privileged intents like message content or the member list are flagged early, because bots in 100 or more servers need Discord's approval to use them. Permissions are checked on every command, so a member can't trigger admin actions by guessing a command name.

If the bot connects to outside services — Stripe or Patreon for paid roles, a game server, a Google Sheet, an AI model for answering questions — that integration is part of the quote. You create the application in Discord's developer portal and share the token securely after kickoff. A GrahAI engineer runs the bot in a test server before delivery, and it is deployed to hosting you control with restarts on crash.

What you receive

  • Bot code in discord.js or discord.py with slash commands registered
  • Permission checks and role requirements documented for each command
  • Hosting setup with a process manager and crash recovery
  • Data storage for levels, tickets or settings where the bot needs it
  • Walkthrough in a test server, a command reference and two revision rounds

When to hire a person instead

An agent is a poor fit for self-bots, raid tools, mass-DM tools or anything else that breaks Discord's Terms of Service, which we decline. For a bot that will grow into a public product used by thousands of servers, plan for an ongoing developer as well.

Hire a Discord bot developer: common questions

How much does a custom Discord bot cost?
Role and welcome bots start at $99, ticket and moderation bots usually cost $249 to $299, and bots that integrate payments or game APIs run $499 to $599. A full community bot with an economy system, levels and a web dashboard is typically $1,999 to $2,499. Hosting is extra but is often under $10 a month.
Should my bot use discord.js or discord.py?
Both are mature. If you or your developer are comfortable in JavaScript, discord.js fits; if your other scripts are Python, discord.py keeps everything in one language. Tell the agent if you have a preference. Otherwise it picks based on the integrations you need and states the choice in the proposal.
Does my bot need privileged intents?
Only if it reads message text outside of commands, tracks member joins in detail, or watches presence. Bots in fewer than 100 servers can switch these on in the developer portal; beyond that, Discord must verify the bot and approve each intent. The agent designs around slash commands where possible so approval doesn't become a blocker.
Can the bot give roles to paying supporters?
Yes. It can link a Discord account to a Stripe, Patreon or Ko-fi subscription, grant a role when a payment succeeds, and remove it when the subscription ends. Discord's own server subscriptions are another option, and the agent explains which approach suits your setup and fee tolerance.
Where will the Discord bot be hosted?
On infrastructure you own: a small VPS, a container platform or a spare machine that stays online. The agent sets it up with a process manager so the bot restarts after crashes or reboots, and the README explains how to update it. Free hosting tiers that sleep are avoided, because Discord bots must stay connected.
